Successful People – Mel Robbins

Mel Robbins is mostly known for her book The 5 Second Rule which is a revolutionary way to “hijack” your brain so we can do things. I think she is successful because she found a great way to overcome the habit of hitting the snooze button in the morning and the habit of procrastination. Because she noticed it works for her, she began to research to understand better why it works, and after that, she started to share her finding so everyone so we can all improve our lives.

Her finding is that our brain is wired in a way that stops us from getting out of our comfort zone and that’s why it’s so hard for us to do things. But if we count down from 5 to 1 and then start doing it, our brain has no time to realize what the f*ck is going on so it can’t start the stopping process.

You can find below a video made by Evan Carmichael with his view about Top 10 Rules for Success that Mel Robbins applies in her life.

Have you tried this 5 second rule? Does it work for you?

      1. Let me know if it works for you. I’ve done it a few times and it worked for me 😀

      2. Counting works to start doing whatever you have to do and you don’t feel like doing. If I remember correctly, you like chocolate. My advice would be to eat some chocolate right after you did your thing and the thought of that chocolate might motivate you during the process. Find things that motivate yourself and place them right after the ones that you don’t want to do.

      3. Think about that house. Imagine yourself in it. Imagine how you go from a room to another… how all the furniture would look like, how your bathroom would look like. Imagine how it smells in the kitchen when something good has been cooked. How do you feel after you imagined all of that?

      4. no, my mind doesnt work so detailed. I can’t describe a shit. So I can’t imagine all those rooms…How can u? Lol
..I’d say so – I can see the pic or real house and kinda ‘WANT’ it. Ahhh, I probably should find the photo of the house and put it on my wall to motivate my self haha

      5. If that’s the case, gather a bunch of photos with things that you really want and stick those on the wall.

  1. Her Audible series Kick-Ass is astounding. She cuts through a lot of mental and emotional red tape in ways that can be applied to a variety of situations.

      1. Being honest with yourself and stop saying “I’m fine.” She’s right! Saying ingredients I’m fine means I’m fine being overweight.

      2. I agree! Being honest to yourself is the key to know and understand yourself better.
