As a want to be writer, I work on it probably thirty to forty hours a week. I try to view it as a job that I need to work on as many hours as anyone would work at an outside job. Admittedly, it doesn’t always happen. I try though.
Most of them, in one way or another. I got rid of everything so that I have no choice but to keep pushing forward towards my dreams. Nothing else to do.
I am so terrible with time. I struggle between getting started, and then having to stop. My inner drive is pretty much a locomotive that never stops. I’m just really terrible at leaping on to moving trains; and also resent having to jump off.

Once you start, do you need to stop?

Yes, because I can’t just do one thing to the exclusion of all else. That’s selfish and unsustainable. I’m the laser vision of Sauron, I tend to lose perspective.

This is the reason a schedule is required. You can do one thing for an hour and another for the next hour and so on. This way you start and do the things you want whilst you not ignore other aspects. Do you think this could be helpful to you?

Yes. But I’ve never been very disciplined. I delineate “space” with my responsibilities. When I’m at work, I’m a teacher. When I’m at home, I’m a mum and wife. Just always stretched out taking care of things in the back ground, knowing when stuff needed to be done. It’s bringing my “arms, legs, and awareness” back into myself to do what I want. And when you’re so small it’s easy for time to get away from you.

Well, the space has been delimited for you by the environment. If you want to work on your dreams, even for an hour, maybe it would be useful to change the environment for that hour so you can be whatever you want to be just as you are teacher at work and mum and wife at home.

Trying to work on it! Hehe. Building the inner temple!
For me, it’s hard to estimate because I’m not doing it all at once, but I think it’s somewhere around 5 hours per day so it’s about 35 hours per week I guess.
Thank you! 🙂 But still it’s a struggle because I have a 40 hours work week on my normal job.

That’s why it’s your dream. You wouldn’t put that much effort into it if it wasn’t something you were driven to do. And more people would be so much more satisfied in their lives if they actually pursued their dreams, not just “hope and wish” for them.

Hope and wish are useful, but without action, things won’t get real.

Hmmm. 40 hrs as in full time for me, perhaps. 🙂 Well, I’m counting the hours I spend in my current job which, by the way, I consider a stepping stone to reaching my dreams. Beyond that full-time job, I have other sidelines, too. So probably I got 50 hrs weekly for my dream.
Great question! One that has been on the top of my mind lately. Not enough, like most. However, I have set in motion a plan to fix that. Both my children and I haven’t been able to quite get in the swing of things since our move and school districts changed/school times changed… So, we created schedules for ourselves to serve as reminders to do the things we have to do, the things we love to do, and what we want to do! Great timing!
It depends on the priority of the day. Whatever I choose to work on, I get hyper-focused. So, I end up working on that thing every hour that I’m awake.
Not nearly enough. And I am constantly kicking myself for not making enough time for it, if any. I know the dream doesn’t work unless you do…
What is this dream that needs most of your time?
Not enough
What can you do to find more time for it?
I wish I knew….life is so busy right now
It is…
Honest answer? Not enough. About 10 right now.
Do you manage to do something daily?
Recently, yes. But the past two months have been very tough. I didn’t write a word until a week ago.
Sometimes managing the time can be tough…
Obviously, not enough. Bjt I’m recognizing my “voice” for dreams isn’t the “voice” that tears those dreams down.
What an awesome observation! There are two parts fighting for this.
Like many people on here, my answer is not enough.
What can you do to get more time for this?
Reblogged this on Grayer Gardens.
Thank you so much for your reblog! I really appreciate it! 😀

I know that struggle, but it’s a “must” struggle for becoming a writer.
Most of them, in one way or another. I got rid of everything so that I have no choice but to keep pushing forward towards my dreams. Nothing else to do.
It’s awesome if everything you do is for your dreams!
Since I’m writing a story now, probably about 10 hours a week, cuz of the littles
Each hour is a step forward. Keep going! 😀
On my dream of becoming an artist/writer/photographer about 10 hours a week. On my dream of a great life, all the time.
Having a great life is a work in progress 🙂
24/7…. 🙂
You rock! 🙂
Not enough
What is your dream you need to work more for?
Financial freedom
I’d want that too. That’s one of the reasons I work so hard.
It’s a combination of hard/smart work and wise decisions
Yep.
Not enough, but recently decided to write an hour every day. Gotta start somewhere, right?
Absolutely! Each journey has a start.
Achieving them, planning them, or remembering them?
Let’s refer it as productive time, so achieving and planning.
I am so terrible with time. I struggle between getting started, and then having to stop. My inner drive is pretty much a locomotive that never stops. I’m just really terrible at leaping on to moving trains; and also resent having to jump off.

Awesome! 😀
For a couple of months now, none at all.
How come?
Well, my dream is largely dependant on a PC and, for the past couple of months, the one I own got spoilt and it. sort of put a pause on my dream.
That must be tough. What is your dream?
To be a Master Software Developer.
On a guess, somewhere between 8 and 12 on the weekdays. I mostly just dream Saturday and Sunday.
We need dreaming as well as working. Both of them can create reality 🙂
For me, it’s hard to estimate because I’m not doing it all at once, but I think it’s somewhere around 5 hours per day so it’s about 35 hours per week I guess.
Thats wonderfully balanced out. A good productive time frame.
Thank you! 🙂 But still it’s a struggle because I have a 40 hours work week on my normal job.

Wow, that’s awesome! You put in lots of work to achieve your dreams! Keep it up!
Nearly every waking hour. I live a dream-life now that I’m unemployed.
That’s amazing! I’m so happy you can live your dream life!

It is so great you developed a plan! If you stick to it, you’ll get there! 😀
To be a Master Software Developer.
Awesome! I hope you’ll have a computer back soon so you can start working on that dream again.
It depends on the priority of the day. Whatever I choose to work on, I get hyper-focused. So, I end up working on that thing every hour that I’m awake.
I’m sure you’ll make your dreams come true!
