You need to believe it’s possible

Would it be possible to get anywhere if there wasn’t a path to that destination? A path is a way and if the way exists, why we sometimes behave as if it didn’t exist for us? It’s interesting how some invisible things (our thoughts) can f*ck up our lives.

This mind we have can be influenced very easy and because of this, we need to have a strong belief that something is achievable in order to get there. And this sh*t is not easy because distractions and influence is everywhere. Every-f*ckin’-where. We can’t even go to the bathroom without getting influenced by something especially if we have our phones when we unload the “heaviness”. Because of all these distractions, we lose track of our own thoughts and our ability to sustain a certain belief or our own becomes more difficult than it should.

Before we can achieve anything, we must believe it’s possible. After we manage to believe it, we need to enforce that belief every single day so no influence can get to it. Without the belief, we don’t “feel like” doing anything towards that. This is why I set up a schedule for myself so I can be “forced” to go through the motions if sometimes the belief is not there. The schedule is what helped me write my book. As can be seen in different parts of the book, my belief wasn’t always there. I was terrified about the immensity of the task, but I had a schedule I had to keep and some tools I used to bypass that negative self-talk. Whenever the belief wasn’t there, I tried to resurrect it by remembering the goal. When the goal is the right one, the belief will be back. But it needs to exist first. It’s the key for our engine, and I’m not the only one saying it.

What do you do to keep your beliefs alive?

  1. Most of the time, I just have to remember what I’m trying to do and why it’s important to me. I agree, the right goal is fuel itself most of the time. Sometimes though, I get upset at the lack of progress or that things aren’t working the way they “should”. I try to stay positive, but sometimes I know it’s good to take a break for the rest of the day and spend some time with my family. I always manage to get back in the right frame of mind by the next morning, with a new idea that inspires me to push even harder.

    1. Yes, there will be times when things don’t work as they “should”, but in the end, it’s part of the process. I’m glad you manage to get back in the right frame of mind quickly 🙂

      1. I’m working on a mindfulness book; specifically, how to use the beauty and peacefulness of nature to lead a more mindful and tranquil life. 🙂
