LikeLiked by 1 person Reply Yes LikeLiked by 1 person I almost posted a huge paragraph about a reoccurring dream I had as a child. Then, realized you meant dream as in aspiration… yeah I’ll make that paragraph a blog later. ha ha Thanks for the prompt! So as a child you only wanted to live life? That’s great! LikeLike Reply Doesn’t every child?… 🙂 LikeLiked by 1 person I dream’t of being a marine biologist and seurgon. Have you followed that dream? LikeLiked by 1 person Reply No, unfortunately not… xx LikeLiked by 1 person Dreamed to just play with nature all day long. Dreamed there would be no school. I don’t have to get up early in the morning. I wanted to play and talk with my two imaginary friends. My childhood is the only part of my life, I wish to remember because it was so wonderful. I dreamed of walking on the sky which I used to think another planet where people live after their death. later I found out the blue color is due to the layers of air. I think it is not pointless or overthinking when I think about my childhood dreams. They did not come true though but the dreams were so simple and wonderful. And sometimes I still ask myself why do we have to have ONE job, define ourselves with ONE position/activity… I guess I was totally right without realising it, when I was a child! LikeLiked by 4 people Reply oh yes, I also wanted to be a ballerina or a nurse… pretty funny really because I was (and am) one of the clumsiest people I know, and used to faint at the sight of blood!! By about the age of 5 or 6 I began to lucid dream and would simply fly away from danger. Things calmed down except the dreams shifted to the bizarre or depressing. I don’t let it carry into waking life but figure my mind is working out the bad things in life since I don’t let them define me or get me down when awake. Still the same to this day, oh man soooo many days. 😝 LikeLiked by 2 people Reply Oh, that reminds me of a recurring nightmare I used to have – of falling into/being swallowed by a huge hole in the ground… I’d be trying to run away from it but it would just get bigger and bigger and swallow me up! Decades later I saw a documentary about sinkholes and realised that was what I used to dream about – but I never knew that’s what they were called and have no idea how I even knew about them! LikeLiked by 2 people Reply Those bizarre or depressing things always find a way to express themselves, so better in dreams than in real life. LikeLiked by 1 person Reply I’m not sure if you mean dreams as in ‘what did you dream of when you were asleep?’ or ‘what were your dreams/aspirations’… so I’ll answer both! Dreams whilst sleeping: I used to have several recurring dreams, which changed slightly as I got older. One was that the whole family (me, my sister, our parents and our cat) were holed up in mum and dad’s bedroom, hiding from some unspecified threat (flood, war, I have no idea!) – somehow I think we even had the cooker/stove up there!! Another was that my sister and I were in the car and mum was driving – the problem being that she never learned to drive and the car was going out of control. No idea where dad was – but he did have what is now called manic depression/bi-polar disorder, and if he took it into his head to stop taking his medication, his behaviour could be somewhat bizarre…so perhaps this was a subconscious expression of wanting to run away from that; I really don’t know. There was another recurring dream I had for several years when I was older (probably early teens) where myself and various unidentified people (i knew who they were in the dream but could never remember who they were when I woke up!) were trying to get home -again from some unspecified threat- but never got there. Make of that what you will! Dreams/Aspirations: Since reading ‘Black Beauty’ at around the age of 9, I dreamed of working with horses. And I did, for a few years after leaving school, before deciding it wasn’t for me after all. But I’m glad I tried it out, or I would always have wondered! The other was less about what I wanted to do, but about the idea of people living on other planets. I’d watch ‘Star Trek’ at my grandma’s when we made family visits, and then walk home with my sister and parents, and if it was a clear sky I’d spend the whole way looking up at the night sky and dreaming/imagining other worlds with people living on them. I also used to dream about being a writer, but apart from a few years writing fan fiction and editing fanzines & newsletters in the late ’70’s/early ’80’s, it took me until 2014 to publish my first short story collection – my dream finally realised! I hope that answers the question! 🙂 LikeLiked by 2 people Reply Wow! What an amazing comment! My question is related to your second answer, but the first one is so interesting! I think your dreams are related with some form of threats you unconsciously felt. I’m so happy you managed to get published! Do you still pursue this writing path?
