  1. Great question, I’d like to humbly suggest I have experience in a number of things. If prefer to not use ‘expert’ as this can close you to new learning or perspectives!

  2. Personally I don’t think anyone can be an expert in anything. As times change, so too does our experiences and studies. Things that were once true yesterday could be totally different today.

      1. Many subjects. For example I would say history of the world, but even though if I love to read when is about history I prefer when someone is talking to me about it. It makes me understand it better I guess. Also I don’t think that only one book can teach me enough on this subject, is also people that lived it.

  3. I think it’s ok to consider yourself an expert and still know that there’s room for improvement or further learning and also recognise that some skills diminish with age or lack of practice or whatever.
An expert is just someone with a lot of skill or knowledge in a particular thing.
My expertise is anagrams. It’s maybe not the most useful skill in the world and there are many things I’d prefer to be expert at, but it has won me many games of scrabble.

      1. I’m not sure I have a how, we used to do anagram games in primary school when we got near the holidays(like ‘how many words can you make from the letters of Father Christmas?’ Or whatever the nearly holiday theme was) and I’d always be able to fill the page. I’m just easily able to see letter permutations and identify which make valid words.

  4. I am not expert of anything. I know that I don’t know. There is always the opportunity to learn in any way and if person is learning it is better than he or she considering themselves an expert.

  5. When I was younger I thought I was an expert at a great number of things. Age and wisdom taught me I wasn’t. But it also taught me to be proud of how far I came.

      1. If I could choose one thing? It would probably be writing. I love doing it; I feel that I’m not good at it. But that doesn’t stop me from doing it. I more than likely won’t be an author, but I’m still going to write in some form or another.

      2. Maybe you will. Who knows where this path leads. When I started this blog, I had the same feelings, but I still managed to write a book so technically I’m an author. You can do that too.

  6. I love all of these responses- because everyone is showing their wisdom and admitting that they have no expertise or greatly underestimating their abilities. Glad to know there are a large number of people like this out there.

But to answer the question- I’m an expert at forgetting what I’m supposed to know!

  7. Nothing. I have an art degree specializing in stained glass and a BA in journalism with a minor in southeast Asian religion, but I don’t think I’m an expert in anything. I would never consider myself an expert. There are people out there who know far more than I ever will.

      1. Maybe I’m being too humble, but I don’t think it’s possible. There will always be someone who knows more or something about your subject will change and you’ll have something new to learn about it.

    1. That is great! I’m also trying to be better at listening and sometimes it’s harder than it should, especially when there are some emotions involved.

  8. I wouldn’t say I am expert in anything. I’m still learning things. But I’d like to say I’m good at comforting and cheer people up, whenever they have experienced some predicament. But then again, I think no one can ever be too skillful in anything

      1. That’s the strange thing. I don’t really think what I usually say or do to my friends is that special when they’re feeling down, but they find it lifting their spirits up. I can’t say the same thing to myself though

When I’m at rock bottom, I usually confide to someone, or let it slide for the time being by going out, take a deep breath and think things through. I don’t feel like I am that good in motivating myself. Quite a hypocrite, no?

  9. In blogging.

Alriggt, seriously? In no field at all.
