Maybe. But that doesn’t mean we can’t fight our instincts.

Yes, of course! And we should fight our instincts!

I think it depends on what our instincts tell us, though. Because sometimes instinct can be mistaken for anxiety. That gut feeling? Depending on the situation, sometimes it’s a good idea to listen to your gut. Sometimes it isn’t. Some people will listen, take possible repercussions into account but still go against their instincts. It’s a cycle, but that’s what makes free will so brilliant. Because we can choose what path we wanna take and what we want to believe.
As a behavior, I had to think about what that meant exactly but yes. Both. I remember catching a glimpse of different videos of animals mating. Like primates of a sort, and the female is in position and the male just comes up and sticks it in and goes to town. Its all very robotic and I feel bad for the female because she got zero affection!
In my mind, it speaks of our optimism and deep capacity to love.

Honestly I have nothing to compare it to, no reference point (I’ve never been anything else) but I would have to say love. I believe dogs, whales, and other mammals display clear signs of love, but the love I’ve experienced in my life is by far the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced at all. If anything is truly “sacred” I would say it’s love.
I don’t think we as a species can simply assume that we feel anything more intensely than other mammals without bordering on arrogance. In fact this very thing, the feelings and intelligence of other species, was one of the main things that drove me away from monotheistic religious beliefs.
In those belief systems animals are nothing and have no hope of “heaven” or “paradise” because they do not possess souls. That would mean that all their sufferings are totally and utterly meaningless. I cannot accept that.
One objection I read to my line of thinking was written by a man who said, “We humans ARE special. You don’t see chimpanzees building cities and skyscrapers.” My response to that is we don’t see many other human populations building skyscrapers either. They have no need of them so why build them. So I think humans can be rather arrogant in their assumptions that just because others do not behave like us, human or not, they are less intelligent somehow. I hope I made sense.
Sure, but what’s the best for me might not be the best for you 🙂 I think the best thing about being a human is the ability to control your life and therefore, your future 😀
I mean there are some other factors, too, but for me, those two are the biggest ones.

My view of being human is rather pessimistic, you could say.
Although humans are part of the animal kingdom, I’m not convinced we are the best part. I’m pretty sure we’re the worst, in fact. Our desire to feel superior, regardless of who or what we hurt, has had, and will continue to have, a lasting effect on this planet, and not a positive one. We have destroyed entire species of animals and entire ecosystems. All in the name of greed and the almighty dollar.
I guess you could say the fact that I have the ability to, hopefully, help turn the tide is one good thing about being human.
I believe that we, humans, are the best because we have the ability to change things. The fact that we did it badly, it’s another topic. None of the animals can do what we did or what we can do and makes the big difference. Too bad our selfishness is bigger than our empathy.
Free will.
Yeah, but so many times we’re driven by instincts…
Maybe. But that doesn’t mean we can’t fight our instincts.

To be able to laugh and make others laugh too
That is indeed a gift 🙂
Our ability to explore our World and (hopefully) make a positive difference to it.
Awesome! Yes, and we do make a positive difference to it as long as we set our minds for that.
Though they’re driving me crazy, it’s being a mom
What does being a mom means to you?
Everything. The opportunity to speak into them and help them become loving people for their own families.
Romance 🤗
Romance as feeling or behavior? Or maybe both?
As a behavior, I had to think about what that meant exactly but yes. Both. I remember catching a glimpse of different videos of animals mating. The possibility of playing music and dancing 😀
Oh yes! That’s a very important part!
Experiencing and sharing empathy.
True, even though there are lots of people that don’t have empathy…
We’re the only primate to go to the moon (that we know of). Peeing standing up is cool too.
Yep! And joking is also cool 😀
I was totally serious. Seriously.
The power to make a difference in someone’s life.
True! And we also have the will of doing it in a positive way (or that’s how things should work).
different from the gods, Greek or otherwise. We take higher risks. We as humans will gamble with our life, when the gods can only wager their ego.
What’s your view about this “gambling with our life”?
In my mind, it speaks of our optimism and deep capacity to love.

Why it is different from other mammals? Is it because we feel it more intense?

Mountain Dew
Why not Sprite?
Sprite is ok but nothing special
We are the one who invaded the nature and responsible for global warming :).
Aren’t we part of the nature?
We are the part of nature. We are destroying ourselves.
Being able to do what I want. With limitations.
Like what?
Do things like skipping class like it’s nothing.
When they help poor people…🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁😁😁😁😃😃😃😃😉😉😃😉😃😉😃😃😉😉😃😃😊😃😊😊😃😊😊😊😊😊😂🙂🙂🙂☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️🙂🙂🙂😀😀😀😀😀😄😀😃😀😃😀😃😃😀

You can imagine..
Sure, but what’s the best for me might not be the best for you 🙂 I think the best thing about being a human is the ability to control your life and therefore, your future 😀
👍
Sex
Well, animals do that too 🙂
Well the question said what’s best about being a human, but not in comparison to animals I presume. So I stand by my answer :):):)
Well said! Point taken 🙂
😆😆😆😆😆
Suppressed laughter at inappropriate times with friends
Interesting! What was the most inappropriate time when you experienced that?
Well, that is subject to each person’s point of view. But for me, I’d say: Emotion and Freewill, majorly.
Nice! Why majorly?
I mean there are some other factors, too, but for me, those two are the biggest ones.

Emotional and physical love. Enjoying all the wonderful senses we have. Learning and evolving.
So being present in the moment to feel all what is it to feel in that moment whilst keeping an eye on the future 🙂
Mortality
How come?
So nothing stays the same
As we are humans we can understand other’s feelings . I think that is the best thing .
So empathy is the best thing. Too bad so many people show a lack of it…
May be , they are busy in this busy world , to show it and they forget about that , by living themselves .
