    1. And besides those different experiences/views, there might be some communication barriers like language and the ability to put thoughts into words…

  1. I’ve experienced that many people actually have a difficult time explaining themselves, or that they only see the negative within themselves.

      1. We have to take the bad with the good. Such is life, Sometimes we learn the most from the uncomfortable “bad” things we encounter. Finding a way to accept “everything”, even what we take away from the upsetting, unsettling parts is allows to learn, grow, evolve, and gain strength

  2. That depends so much on the individual. Some will brag about their achievements, others about what motivates them. Some only talk work or family. We probably learn as much about a person by what they don’t tell about themselves as we do from they share.

    1. Totally agree. I also find it very interesting to notice what a person shares depending of the listener. It shows their level of comfort with that person.

  3. It depends on the person and their state of mind.

Some like to tell you only about the positive things in their lives. There are a number of reasons why they would do this.
    1. It could be that they’re just a positive person and choose to have a positive outlook on life. These are some of the best people you could ever know. Their positivity is addictive and can help to inspire people to live better lives.
    2. On the flip side there are people that exaggerate or blatantly lie about the good things in their lives. They are usually in a state of denial or depression and use this behaviour as a form of validation and seek approval by others.

Some people only ever talk about the negative aspects of life. This gets annoying very quickly and usually steers conversations into areas that upset or frustrate others. While they may be good people at heart, I do my best to stay clear of this. They will disguise their behaviour as being a realist, but in fact they are more often than not, just plain unsatisfied with life.

I am not a psychologist but I’ve met a lot of different people throughout my life, had many in-depth conversations, and have seen this in practice on many occasions.

    1. Very true! Unfortunately, around me are mostly people that only talk about the negative aspects of life. I think it’s a cultural thing here in Romania.

  4. Anything, so long as they are the topic of conversation. People love to talk about themselves and steer all conversation around their own ego.

  5. My family love to comment on their own intelligence level. My father brags about his, while my mother moans about her (so she thinks) lack of it.

    1. It’s interesting that people who had huge accomplishments don’t feel the need to talk about them so much compared to the people that have little accomplishments. At least; that’s what I noticed.

  6. “I know this probably sounds like ….”
How are you able to know the actual effect of whatever ur statement is? AND preempt it? Like do people walk around with their invisible 3rd person’s perspective walking along with them? 🤷🏽‍♀️

  7. What job and how much money they make seems to be the first thing most people tell me as though it’ll impress me ha how wrong they are.

      1. They don’t typically have anymore life experience than anyone else. They’re just trying to convince themselves that they are smarter than they are. Don’t get me wrong, I could care less. We all have a roll. I just thing it sounds dumb.
