When you really think about “religion”, as it’s suppose to be…. And consider the facade people have created of its “idea”, religion really doesn’t exist. In my opinion, anyway.
Maybe I should have said the first person to come up with the idea of religious concepts. If not for that first person, perhaps it would never have happened. Who knows.

What I meant is that different continents can initiate their own religion at same time (multiple first persons) because religion is an inevitable precursor of science as the first attempt of humankind to understand the stars in heavens (sky) by attributing its existential cause to God and so on.

If I had to choose, it would be the genocide of the Indians by the white man all those many years ago. There was no need for any of that, and I think only something positive could come from that not happening.
Domestication of plants and animals. Without that we would have stayed hunter gatherers. There would be no cities, far less overpopulation, and we would work with our environment rather than adapting it to suit our wants or needs. Of course it would also mean very little technological advancement and all our time would be spent on survival but I guess that’s the trade off.
The Norman Conquest of England as it suppressed much of the populace and denied a Brythonic future. Yes, it would change the world or at least Europe. (But there are better answers already here.) Or no 9/11 as that has had terrible consequences and will impact so much more.
I would have to say when abortion came into “ok”—meaning it’s become so abused that people even think it’s ok to throw the babies in dumpsters, etc. the taking of innocence. I don’t know how to put it into words without pissing someone off.
