What do you see when you look in the mirror?

. . .

SnapDragon sees a mom, a teacher, an artist. She sees an increasing amount of wiry, silver hairs. She sees green eyes that read, and wander, and dream. She sees an impossibly hopeful soul.

Your turn, Dear Reader! We want to hear from you!

  1. This might sound like I’ve missed the point of the question, but I see me. When I think about what I mean by that, it’s that I want my story to write itself whilst I live, both the good and bad.

I happened to have been coincidentally talking to my wife about mirrors yesterday. We agreed that I almost never use them πŸ˜…

  2. I see a fluffy mane of curls I’ve learned to love. Some pimples and scars, surrounding eyes full of hope. I didn’t always love myself the way I do now, but I accept the woman in the mirror and the effort she makes to be better every day. I want the world to be a kinder place, and in my effort to be kind to others, I first try to be kind to myself.

Thank you for a thought provoking question of the day!

  3. Whether doing a ‘mirror of the mind’ meditation or literally looking in the mirror, I see a reflection. And I try to see myself becoming the change that I want to see in the world. If there’s a blemish or a crow’s foot that catches the spotlight of my attention, I try to embrace the apparent imperfection with a gentle kindness. In the reflective trying, there is a letting go of the smoke and mirrors, if you’ll pardon the pun. Ari

  4. When I look in the mirror, sometimes I see someone who is tired yet wide awake with the creative possibilities that await. Other times I appear more youthful than others. I see someone still unsure yet optimistic about the outcome of her endeavors. It rarely seems like one of those same-day different BS kinds of expressions. I see experience, pain, joy, surprise. I see life when I look in the mirror.

  5. I see a shell of the person I was a few years ago. I see someone who is tired – physically, spiritually and emotionally. I see a person smiling on the outside, while slowly crumbling on the inside.

  6. Hey Snap – Strange thing – I just wrote a post about people acting like mirrors – how we should show each other the same care and attention we do ourselves in the mirror. What do I see? I see myself – A person worthy of love – but I also see everyone else – my parents, friends, strangers, millions of other people, generations long since passed staring back at me. Look for long enough and it feels like it is nothing but a stranger staring back. Wishing you well Snap πŸ™

  7. I see a writer, a drummer, a guitarist, a singer, someone who cares about others and what’s to help them be the best they can be. I see a teacher, an athlete, a friend. I see eyes pouring out love, through times of hope and darkness, even among the steadily receding hairline.

Thank you for asking the question, and for sharing your own beautifully honest answer. ✨
