    1. Hi. I was torn between “creative” and “artistic” when I was doing my list. It’s hard to do this in five words or less. Thanks for the comment.

      1. I think being creative is a broader term than being artistic is, which confines an artist to only arts or music, I therefore chose artistic because I am more inclined towards music , arts. 🙂

      2. You’re right. In my case, I’m both creative, in the broader sense, and artistic in that I used to be an artist and showed my work in galleries in such. I’m trying to restart that part of my life now. Do you paint? Sculpt? If so, why not leave a link to your work here?

      3. I sing quite well, I am on my guitar these days rehersing, also I love decorating interiors, playing with colors and creating moods. Working on my you tube channel, shall drop the link soon. 🤗

    1. I like that you’re “nonjudgemental.” I think I need to add “tolerant” to my list. This was hard, wasn’t it? Or did you find it easy? Thanks so much for participating.

      1. I consider myself this too. I don’t need the constant social interaction of an extrovert, but when the mood hits I really do enjoy being social (but much prefer more intimate versus large gatherings).

      2. “When the mood hits” is key language. I think that pretty well describes me. Actually, in most cases, if given the choice between going to a party and staying at home, I’d choose the latter. I’m not awkward among people. It’s just my preference. Also, when I was growing up, I preferred to have one close friend rather than many friends.

      1. I was a little uncertain at first but I consider my curiosity a gift and seeing other’s introversion listed, I needed to put ambiversion – so to answer your question- yes then no 😏

      2. Thanks for your response. When you say you see your curiosity a gift, do you mean that it was something you were born with or it’s something someone gave to you? I’m just curious (like you) about all this. I hope you don’t mind my asking. Sorry if I come across as asking questions I shouldn’t.

      3. It’s something I have which I never sought and consider it a blessing of sorts, similar to my faith, don’t believe all are blessed with similarly

    1. You’ve definitely got all your brains covered! The world needs more altruistic people. That’s a great trait to have. Thanks so much for participating.

      1. It’s actually turning out to be a pretty popular post. I had no idea how people would react when I published it. I thought it might get soe reaction, but I’m pleasantely surprised.

      2. Thats brilliant to hear 🙌. Its giving us all a chance to think about our attributes. Its hard to write about it at first as we could fit so many attributes at certain stages of our lives! But the question gave us that little nudge to throw it out there 😊. Thank you for the post!

      3. Someone else made a similar comment. She said that her list would be different at different times of her life, and that it might vary depending on her mood, which made me think that we are who we perceive ourselves to be and that this perception could be fluid. Thank you for providing such interesting comments.

    1. I know what a “young old soul” means generally, but in your case, what makes you such a person? I’m just curious. I think I am such a person too. I remember being a pretty serious child when I was growing up. Thanks for responding.

      1. For me it means I don’t understand people my age who are obsessed with tik tok and Instagram…I much prefer books, cats and hot water bottles! 😂
I was also a very serious young child 🤭

      2. I’m getting much less optimistic about the internet as time goes by. I notice that I much prefer reading from a book than from a screen. Maybe there’s going to be a backlash against online life. It’s likely there already is a backlash.

    1. Hi. I checked out your blog briefly and will return to do some more substantial reading. Where, in Portugal, do you if you don’t mine my asking. I visited Lisbon a few years ago and fell in love with the place. My wife and I are talking about a nice place to live other than the US. My wife is Egyptian, and we frequently talk about Portugal. I have done a bit of research on Coimbra and think it looks cool. Thanks so much for commenting.

      1. My family is half portuguese, half from Mozambique, but I lived all my life in Portugal, between Lisbon and Oporto. Lisbon is my chosen place when I go back to Portugal, since my home now is London. I think Portugal is perfect to buy a home and relax, but not to work. Work wise, it depends of the sector, some sectors have really open minded people, others people still live in the past. About Coimbra, I can’t say that much, because I have been once there and long time ago, so wouldn’t be able to advise you, I’m afraid. Anyway, if eventually you move to Portugal, all the best 🙌🕉🇵🇹😊

      2. Thanks. I appreciate the info! I also lived in Africa for seven years. I was in Cairo, Egypt, teaching at the American University in Cairo, from 2008 to 2015. I’d like to see more of the continent. You’re likely the first person I’ve ever met with a connect to Mozambique.

      3. Hopefully i will be going this year to Mozambique to see my family. As any other african country, there is a lot of poverty, but there is also a lot of beauty to be seen. The beaches in summertime are paradise 😍
About Egypt, I’d love to visit Cairo! What is your favourite place in Cairo?

      4. I know what you mean about places in Africa. Many Cairenes are quite poor, but they are wonderfully rich in spirit and decency and kindness. Cairo is one of the most amazing cities in the world. There are probably 20 to 24 million people liivng in the city. You can’t image the chaos. It’s one of those cities that never sleeps. There’s so much hustle and bustle. Much of the city feels and looks absolutely ancient. It is truly fascinating. It does have its problems. For example, it’s polluted and overcrowded. It’s hard to choose a particular favorite part of the city. I think a tourist would love just wandering the streets. There are so many cool nooks and crannies. Of course, there are famous tourist spots, but from my point of view, I like wandering the back streets. It’s such a mix of things. On the one hand, it’s very sophisticated and there is a European feel there. On the other hand, it feels very “African.” If I were advising a tourist, I’d say go outside Cairo. There are many cool and beautiful coastal towns and desert oases. Check out the brightly colored and amazing houses of Aswan. Just do a Google image search. It’s been a pleasure telling you all about this. We are going there in July.

  1. My first thought is, well, this list would be very mood dependent. I think my first quality would be thoughtful, but in the analytical way, not in the kind way. So, thoughtful, sensitive, neurotic, ethical, loyal. Also, I like the opening image. I am, in addition to my five, a fan of order 😌

    1. I agree that this list would likely change for me if it were put together on a different day or time. I keep seeing descriptors on others’ lists and thinking, “Hey, maybe that’s more like me than the list I put together.” Describing yourself like this is deceptively hard. Thanks so much for your comment.

P.S. You’re the first person to include “ethical” on your list. That’s such a great thing to be today, especially today.

    1. I’m so intrigued by the fact that you’ve described yourself as “colorloving.” How does that manifest itself in your life? Are you an artist or interior decorator? Thanks so much for sharing a really interesting list of attributes.

      1. Hi I love colors, I see rainbows everywhere, I am working a lot with colors in my paintings, currently I am searching what the rainbow means to me, and I am a big fan of contrasting colors , thanks for your interest 😃

      2. I used to show and sell artwork internationally and am looking to restart that part of my life. Do you have an art website? If so, why not post a link here so we check out your work.

    1. Hi. I’m curious about “unsettled.” Does that mean you like to move around a lot? I hope you don’t mind my asking. Thanks so much for your comment.

      1. I am pleased that you asked. I say “unsettled” because I tend to change my mind and my direction a lot. I tend to be a restless person- always thinking, wondering, and planning various things. My mind is forever reeling.

      2. Well, I think it’s better to reevaluate and make course corrections rather than getting stuck in ruts and behaving rigidly. I also change directions when I feel like an old path no longer makes sense to me.

      3. It’s actually not. I made a mistake when I created the site on WordPress years ago. If you use the link at the end of each blog I publish here, you’ll be taken to my personal blog. Unfortunately, because I’ve got so many irons in the fire, I don’t update it as often as I should. I do my primary publishing here, on this site.

  2. This question kinda stopped me in my tracks and made me realize something….I could describe the before ‘Me’ and also the now ‘Me’.
For 43 years I’d say I was vivacious, carefree, fun, creative…
September 5, 2020 my entire life changed in every way….my oldest of 4, passed away at 25 year old. So much of me died that day too.
Now I’m learning that I am sad but I am strong, emotional/empathetic (wasn’t sure which to go with), aloof, quiet
That description may be different in 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years because I’m learning how to control my grief rather than allow it to control me…everyday.

    1. Your comment touched me greatly and left me speechless. I’m terribly sorry about your loss. You demonstrate that you’re not “stuck,” though, because you’ve talked about how dynamic your situation is. Like you, I’ve had terrible personal losses. Time heals all wounds, as the old saying goes. There’s great truth there. My thoughts are with you. Thanks so much for sharing your story.

  3. I wished I would’ve thought about this before my interview last week. They asked me, and I stumbled a bit. Compassionate, nonjudgmental, and optimistic.

    1. It’s a surprisingly difficult question to answer, isn’t it? I struggled too in putting together this post. Being nonjudgmental is a wonderful trait to have. I probably should have included that too. Like I said, this was difficult. Thanks so much!

      1. Actually, putting together a list like this forces us into making an oversimplification of ourselves. I’m actuall a lot more complex than my list leaves people to belieive.

    1. Hi. I’m thinking that I’m most of those things too. This was really hard, wasn’t it? It’s hard to choose only a few attributes. Are you an artist? I hope you don’t mind my asking. Thanks.

      1. Nope,. I’m not 😅 I just find myself artistic because I love drawing or whatever that is yhat involves arts hehe

    1. I’m regretting not having included “curious” and “open-minded” in my list. I found this deceptively diffiult to answer. Did you feel the same? Thanks for the comment.

    1. The world needs more kind people, like you. I also considered including “thoughtful” in my list. Reading everyone else’s list is making me evaluate mine. Thanks.

    1. Hi. I checked out your blog and will return later to read more. I love your title, “Who the Hell Knows.” That’s a pretty orginal title. In fact, I wish I had thought of it. So, I’m thinking you’re definitely not unoriginal. Thanks for leaving the most intriguing comment in all those that were left.

    1. Ah, sarcasm, the greatest of all forms of humor. I should have included sarcasm in my list too. In fact, I’m starting to doubt my list altogether. Thanks so much!

    1. Haha! That’s great! With all my glorious positive traits, I didn’t have any room left for some of my true defaults! Thanks for sharing this.

    2. Hi. You get extra marks for being honest and/or self-deprecating. I could have added lazy and obsessive to my list too. Thanks so much for participating.

    1. Haha! That’s great! With all my glorious positive traits, I didn’t have any room left for some of my true defaults! Thanks for sharing this.

    2. I sais this earlier, to another poster, and I’m going to say it to you. Based on your list, we could have been brothers or close family. I’m not certain about the “wholesome” part, though. Thanks so much reading and commenting.

    1. I have mentioned a few times in my responses that this was more difficult than I thought it would be. I keep seeing traits on other people’s list that I should have included in my own. I think doing this in only five words was really challenging. What do you think? Thanks.

    1. I would agree with your list. I like self-aware. I kinda sorta wish I’d had that on my list. I keep finding things on others’ lists that I wish I’d had on mine. Thanks.

    1. I was reading your list without a hitch until I got to “broken” and then realized that there’s likely a story behind that choice. Thanks so much.

    1. I’m not at all surprised by “searching for life’s meaning.” When I look at your photo, I think “seeker.” By the way, what do you teach, AdjunctWizard?

      1. I am a retired engineer. I have taught math, science and engineering classes. Currently teaching maintenance guys how to be better maintenance guys. Lots of things interest me and I have lots of time to chase those interests staying close to my chronically ill wife. — Thanks for asking.

      1. Thank you.

It means I dont initiate a conversations at first nor do I talk to people I know. If someone I know starts talking first then I would catch up and keep on talking. If a stranger starts to talk first then I continue.

        Your welcome 🙂
