SnapDragon Speaks: On Wrinkles & Dish Soap.

A Messy Reflection from Yours Truly.

. . .

Greetings from my warm, bird-chirping corner of the globe, Dear Reader.

I’m in my bare feet, I have a tall iced coffee within reach, and approximately half an hour or so of solitude.

Here I am.

And, simply put, I’m a mess.

Top-knot hairdo. Disheveled clothes. Toenails that could use a precise and careful trimming.

Our kitchen sink is buried beneath a sizable stack of grease-covered cookery.

I’ve got towels to launder; a tub to scrub.

Friends and family deserving of my time and attention.

So. Many. Things.

So I guess the point of this Pointless post is to say:

I’m a human being.

And I do not have it all together.

Some days (most days?) I feel like I’m barely keeping afloat within these turbulent waters.

But I’m also enjoying the ride.

. . .

What gets you through the day, Dear Reader?

How do you balance it all?

What makes you human?

  1. I merely aim to balance “it all.” I have my assigned priorities which shift and switch depending on urgency and my level of comfort with setting aside some and tackling others. “It’s better to aim at the stars and land on the moon, than to aim for a mud puddle and hit it.”

  2. What gets me through the day is knowing it’s okay if I don’t get everything done. As my mom told me many years ago when I was a young mother, “”Don’t worry about it if you don’t get it done, it really doesn’t matter. It’ll still be there tomorrow.” I wished I had taken it to heart back then, played more and worked less.

  3. I know how it feels when its all ‘too’ much – be kind & gentle to ‘you’! A little walk in nature alone if you can (helps clear my head). Being a mum myself I know how overwhelming it can get. Nobody is perfect & as you say we’re only human.. There are brighter days ahead 💗💫

  4. I can so identify! Many days I just make it through the day. Actually, that was in the past. Right now I am “working” on enjoying each day. Enjoying the present. Enjoying the journey. That means that sometimes I have to just sit and enjoy the people I’m with, pushing my “to-do” list to the back of my brain, because people and their company are much better than doing. Let’s be Marys sometimes, not Marthas.

  5. Ahahahaha! The Topknot of Power!! 😀 Yes, I still rock those too, and my kids are about grown. There will Always be dishes, laundry and vacuuming to be done, even if you’ve just finished it. These tasks are what make us a functioning human. The ability to get your messy thoughts together enough to write (or other creative endeavors) is what makes us rise above the regular human level, even for an hour. It’s what helps us see the sky past the trees. Yes, I look up a lot, because I just love those clouds!

  6. It’s quite OK not to be the perfect people that television burned into our youthful brains. They were unreachable goals of perfection then, and haunt us to this day. Just be human.

    1. And thank you for reading, friend, and for this comment. I’m definitely working on shedding the guilt, but you’re right: when I do, it’s quite liberating! Wishing you all the best. 🦋
